The Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble invite you to join us on Friday, April 12 at 8pmin the Majestic Theater for MASTERWORKS!
This concert features some of the best music for wind band in our repertoire, including Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posyand Divertimento, Op. 42 by Vincent Persichetti. The Wind Symphony performed movements from these pieces and other works in the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on March 24, 2019 as the invited college ensemble in the Sousa Band Festival, and we are excited to share this wonderful music with our home audience.
Dr. Margaret Underwood, Director of Bands at Western Carolina University, will guest conduct the Divertimento as part of a 3-day residency with the Wind Symphony and Conservatory. Dr. Underwood’s appearance is made possible through a grant from the Events Planning and Coordinating Committee.
The Percussion Ensemble will perform four recent works, showcasing our percussion students and their commitment to new music.
