The Majestic Theater
The Majestic Theater opened in Gettysburg in 1925 as the largest vaudeville and silent movie theater in south-central Pennsylvania. The theater was designed by the prominent Philadelphia architect W.H. Lee, and built by Henry Scharf, manager of the historic Hotel Gettysburg. The $16 million restoration of the theater has meticulously re-created its original Colonial Revival features.
Continuing its downtown tradition of movies started in 1925, the renovated Majestic features two new nightly cinemas that are the region’s premiere destination of award-winning independent films.
